Report: Apple TVs Selling Out At Apple Stores Everywhere

According to JMP Research analyst Alax Gauna, many Apple Stores are having trouble keeping the $99 Apple TV in stock.

We were not particularly surprised when we couldn’t get our hands on the Apple TV over this past introductory weekend in San Francisco, but when the scarcity persisted into this week it got us to checking and we subsequently learned that stores across the nation were selling out of their inventory on the same day as receipt in Boston, Chicago, New York and Washington D.C.,” he writes, “and online representatives corroborated this strength extends beyond our 20+ store checks.

It doesn’t really matter whether the Apple TV is selling because of its $99 price tag, feature list or both. All that matters is that next-gen media streamers are finding their way into more homes and that’s good for the whole industry.

The new Apple TV seems to be the product that will move this product group from a niche item to mainstream just in time for the Google TV and Boxee Box launch. There doesn’t have to be a so-called winner here. There are more than enough livingrooms around the globe for several blockbuster products. [via Barrons
