It goes like this: Rare has already developed the game, and all it’s doing is waiting for the go-ahead from, yes, Nintendo . There’s four parties involved in all of this: Rare (the original developer), Nintendo (the original publisher), Microsoft (which bought Rare in 2002) and Activision (the current holder of the James Bond video game license). Activision has already given its blessing; as far as it’s concerned, the game could come out tomorrow and it’d be happy. Microsoft is much the same, as is Rare. Microsoft even came up with a plan to have the game released on both Xbox Live Arcade and the Wii Virtual Console, but for whatever reason, Nintendo has so far refused.
No one knows what’s up with Nintendo, primarily because the company hasn’t said anything to anyone; no one knows why it won’t release the game. We can guess that Nintendo is holding out for more money, but that’s only a guess.
Maybe we should write nasty letters to Nintendo Power?
