Today BIO-key International Inc., a wireless public safety solutions provider, and its partner CYRUN, announced a contract award with the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Police Department for BIO-key’s mobile data software. Under this contract the MobileCop solution from BIO-key will be incorporated into CYRUN’s Alliance PD Central Computer Aided Dispatch and Records Management System. The MobileCop wireless system will provide BART officers with access to federal, state and local criminal information from their patrol vehicles.
“For the BART Police Department, this will be a major step towards improving our efficiency and effectiveness,” said William “Travis” Gibson, Commander of BART’s Patrol Bureau. “With mobile data access, we will be able to more effectively accomplish our mission of ensuring the safety and security of the BART system, including its patrons, employees and infrastructure. This system will allow our officers to access critical information quickly without tying up the communication center, thereby improving our response to emergencies, critical incidents and routine calls for service. This technology has been a long time coming and we look forward to providing our officers with this invaluable tool.”
